ZINES

I sure have made a lot of zines over the last couple of years. I started out making one called Westside Angst, which varies between general half arsed attempts at humour and massive, angsty forays into tenuous connections between post structural theory and my life. Additionally I've put out a couple of comics, a couple of zines about my home town of Adelaide and a newsletter for my art foundation, the South Australian Institute for the Photocopied Arts.

Here's a brief run down of all the zines I've done.

Click here for a more detailed run down of all the the stuff I've put out.

Although it's mostly up there for my own archival purposes, so I don't forget what I've done.

WESTSIDE ANGST

Currently up to issue 6, Westside Angst is distributed by Moon Rocket, Pander, Smitten Kitten, Livinghood, Vox Populis, Paperclip, Burning the Letters and Racer distros. I think issue one came out in about September 2001. It's sucked up most of my writing efforts over the past two years, and reviews of all issues have been generally very favourable. Subject matter varies from short, flippant attempts at humour to 21,000 word angsty perzines with lots of Spivak and Judith Butler quotes. I got a letter from Vanessa Berry saying she liked that issue, so I was pretty happy.

RETURN TO A-TOWN

Westside Angst, issues 1A and 4A were dedicated to my home town of Adelaide, and put out under the title Return to A-Town. The first zine I distro'd for free, making heavy use of cover gimmicks. I've recently discovered a couple of copies of issue 4A (which had an Adelaide collectors card on the front of each zine. Let me know if you want one.

COMICS

I put out this comic, The Sinking Ship State, with comics by a bunch of people including Rowan Tedge, Zeldz Magnoonis, Robin Tatlow Lord and Zac Holly, Nigel Koop and Joel Catchlove. All the comics were roughly related to the city of Adelaide. It was so much fun I'm trying to put together a second one. So far I have contributions from Michelle de Cean, Matt Banham and Holly whose last name I can't remember right now. Let me know if you've got an Adelaide themed comic you'd like to see independently published.

I also put out another comic, entitled 'The Office of the Damned', which I made whilst bored at work. It's about a bunch of undead office workers who are bored out of their brains.

All the comics I've put out have been free. Free stuff rules.
