I think a lot of people see us play live*, and I imagine that they must often wonder what goes on behind our steely facades. We are not an outwardly emotional band. Perhaps because of this we may seem somewhat clinical, untouchable, uncaring, detached from our audience. This isn't so. On this page I have tried to express my personal experience of Hardy Coxon shows in the form of Haiku poetry. I feel that this will give a unique perspective into the emotional life of a Hardy Coxon member and let you get a different perspective than you might be used to. I hope that this will help you understand that we are not just low grade local musicians going through the motions but also thinking, feeling people.
Allure Bar
with Roo Shooter and St Albans Kids
Eight hours before the
show a deaf guy decided
he loved me. Oh shit.
All I was doing
was taking a walk and he
kept asking for help.
I couldn't get rid
of him. I took him to the
show. He went crazy.
He had a nervous
breakdown. He spent the night out
the back going nuts.
Nick and I took him
to the hospital after
we finished our set.
I felt bad for him.
Then he emailed me and asked
me stay with him.
He specified I
should wear a leather jacket
and come sleep over.

Carpark Building on Frome Road
with Snowtown Barrels and St Alban's Kids
A security
gaurd turned up during the St
Albans Kids third song.
But some guy in a
ski mask had a word with him
and he went away.
We covered the Smog
song 'Guitar Innovator'.
It was fuckin' A.

Seaford Rec Centre
December 9th, with Tidal, Ungkas and Thinktank
Thinktank said that we
were the sound of the future.
Aww geeze. Thanks a lot.
We missed Tidal and
Ungkas. We went to the beach
and Nick got naked.

Royal Admiral
December 21st with No Through Road and The Blue Stripes.
Royal Admiral
is a very odd venue.
James said the mix sucked.
No Through Road butchered
a Smog song. The Blue Stripes were
nice, or so I thought.
This show topped off a
day of remembering why
I never go out.
I went home. I had
a headache, took codine and
listened to Smog songs.

Some little bar above Cafe Bonjornoioios or something. On Rundle Street. With someone from interstate playing one of those little guitars. I can't remember what they're called, or what the musician was called. I think someone else played, but I can't remember who.
Unfashionably
early, I arrived. But I
got a real good park.
It turned out we had
to play quiet. Oh! Horror!
Improvisation!

Eden Hills 'Da Nest' with St Alban's Kids and some other hardcore band that I forget now.
I got lost on the
way up there, but still arrived
a bit too early.
We played and people
stood up. Oh! The novelty!
I had a nice time.
Outloading involved
police, and drunken kids who
were very polite...
...which was just as well
because they were all sitting
on my car bonnet.

*This is sarcasm. I am fully aware that very few people see us play live.
