More Flat Stanley news then you can wave a stick at! Sometimes. This page has been rather neglected for a pretty while. I'll endevor to henceforth change its format and, with it, the slack nature of my updating.

Sunday Febuary 13th

Long time no update. Flat Stanley haven't been up to much, but that should all change as they support Guided By Voices on the 18th at the Adelaide Unibar. Also performing will be Friction Suite.

Friday November 19th

Word straight from the champ himself is that Flat Stanley will be playing their last show for the year on Friday 26th of November with 78 Saab. After this time they'll be going through their 'Brian Wilson' phase according to Paul "not because we're all going to become fat and flagrantly mentally ill, but because we're taking time off from live shows to focus on recording some really primo pop music." The upcoming show will supposedly feature "a cover not performed by the band since 1992." I'm guessing Sweet Caroline.

Also expect Bollard to be playing again at the Prince Alfred Hotel on Sunday December 12th.

November Wednesday 3rd

Sunday 7 November - 7 Stars with 2 Litre Dolby
Friday 26 November - Holdfast with 78 Saab
Saturday 18 December - Austral with Dry (from Victoria)

Expect some updates in the lyrics section thanks to Paul Champion.

September 16th

Word direct from Paul Champion is there will most likely be a Flat Stanley show at the Austral on October 15th. It's sort of penciled in at the moment by the sounds of it. Paul will also be playing with Sandy Cenon, of the shit talkin' Moonies and Bollard fame, at the Prince Albert on Wright Street on Friday, October 29th. Expect special guests and covers a plenty.

More September 11th

There's an interview with Pete in the latest issue of Pee. 95cents. Bargain and a half. Incidentally I'd just like to say that whoever thought up the ad for the band Myselph is tosser.

September 11th

Due to computer failures I haven't been able to update the page in quite a pretty while. But. Yeah. There's no shows I know of right now to announce. There's a new Rash page up somewhere. The guy who set it up sent me an email and I lost his email. So. Sorry to that person, if you email me again I'll put up a link for you when I update the links section sometime soonish. And I've almost finished the Whites Of Their Eyes section.

Also look out for a new version of the official Flat Stanley website being run by sources close to the band. Last I heard it was about half done. I'll post the URL when I get it.

That's all for now kids.

Here's the upcoming state and nation tour details for Flat Stanley, direct from Paul Champion himself:

Fri 30 July - somewhere on the north shore, Sydney
Sat 31 July - Iron Duke, Sydney

Fri 6 Aug - Thebarton Theatre + Powderfinger, S4K

June 16 (Bloomsday!)

Whoops, forgot to mention the CD launch tommorow, thursday the 17th at FAD Cafe. Starts about 9.

The next show will, I think, be June 26 at the Austral with side burned larakins The Trims.

May 27

Here's some news from the Champ himself:

"Contrary to recent info in both the street and mainstream press, this
Saturday night is not the launch of the new Flat Stanley CD. This Saturday
is the occasion of the final SA v. Victoria State of Origin match for the
century. Flat Stanley will also be playing at the Royal at about 11pm
(supporting Kaleidoscope for their CD launch) but our actual official CD
launch isn't until Thursday 17 June at F.A.D. on Waymouth St, featuring
other leading local and interstate acts. $6 gets you in the door, drink
specials all night, no thongs or tanktops."

Incidentally I think the "no thongs or tanktops" thing is probably just general life advice, not anything relating to the show at F.A.D.

May 17

Flat Stanley will, according to my cousin, be interviewed on Triple J on Wed 19th on that Aust Music show.

Next show, as it says below, is on May 29th at the Royal.

May 4th

Paul sent me dates for upcoming SA shows:

Saturday 15 May - Holdfast, + Bluebottle Kiss, Art of Fighting
Sunday 16 May - Unibar, + Blackeyed Susans, BBK, AoF
Saturday 29 May - Royal, + Kaleidoscope (CD launch), Alcotomic, Avon

May 3rd

Flat Stanley will be playing a live to air on 5UV at about 9 PM tommorow (tuesday the 4th that is).

I heard the new CD in Big Star today. They started playing it over the speakers and I was so impressed I stood in big star for half an hour or so just to listen to it. It's easily better than any previous release by Flat Stanley, and considerably better than most CD's by any other bands. It's just stunning how good it is.

Also Paul encourages you to do the band a big favour and vote for the song Susan Brown on triple J's net fifty and super request. If you don't do so well, he probably doesn't like you.

They'll supposedly be playing with Bluebottle Kiss on friday night at the Globe.

News as of 26th of April

The upcoming Flat Stanley EP, entitled The Whites Of Their Eyes is due out on May 4th or so I think, but you can probably expect things to go a bit haywire because, well, it wouldn't be the rock if they didn't.

Also being released is the new Bluebottle Kiss album, Patient. To commemorate the immense indie rock eclipse this marks both bands will, rumour has it, be touring together along with Art of Fighting. Presumably this tour will be both geographically and indie rock wise a big event.

The Silvermine Tapes song on the Static Modulation One compilation isn't as good as the stuff on Apocalypse of Bordom, so don't feel too bad if you can't find it. Although there's some other good songs on said compilation, including the Brian Apples hit "Flowers and Unicorns".

Expect another hard copy Flat Stanley newsletter. The last one had a print run of five copies, but was in full colour. One copy went to the guy at Big Star, who described it as "The Young Person's Guide To Obsessive Stalking". Two other copies were picked up by Flat Stanley members Pete and Max, who both gave it their approval. So there.
